Amelia Young, CEO, is a Professional Events Organiser with an MA in Music from Oxford and a background in classical music as a solo cellist and musical entertainer.
For the past 13 years, she has been CEO and Managing Director of the popular Social Events Company, "Entertaining London Ltd" and as such has often appeared with other Members and her Company Team on television and radio programmes as diverse as Channel 4's "Cutting Edge", "The Big Breakfast", BBC's "Would like to Meet", "BBC Screen Grabs", "Kilroy", Channel 5's "The People vs Jerry Sadowitz", Jerry Springer (!), BBC London Live, London Talkback Radio, LBC Radio. In addition, she has been the subject of BBC Documentaries, both as an Events Organiser and Musician. A former musical child prodigy, Amelia's childhood TV appearance include cello performances on programmes such as Junior Showtime, Opportunity Knocks, New Faces, Search for A Star, Rising Stars, Magpie, Day by Day, Nationwide, UK Fame and more shows including her own Musical Series for TV AM.
At 16, Amelia became the first young artist to be loaned Prince Charles's Cello which was made in 1803 for the Prince Regent, (of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton). Amelia was the first non-royal person to perform on Prince Charles's cello and at 18, was presented to Prince Charles and Princess Diana at a Gala Reception at the Barbican Centre.
Following a successful musical career where she performed at top Concert Halls such as The Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square as well as in shows at theatres such as The Old Vic, London Palladium, Brighton Dome, and live Broadcasts for Classic FM, Amelia spotted the need, way back in 1997 for a new-generation, fun, leisure lifestyle social club for busy people to meet up and make friends from all over the world. A club, pre-internet, that was genuinely fun, funky and relaxed. For over 10 years, her Company and Club, Entertaining London Ltd successfully developed and maintained it’s unique niche as the Capital's leading arts, nightlife, theatre, restaurant, sports and leisure club for the 20s/30s (up to early 40s) age range focussing on creating a community for its members. And pre-Facebook, in 2003, just before the advent of the social networking phenomenom, Amelia was the brainchild behind and creator of the UK's first social events with social networking website, elxs.com
Having spent many years bringing thousands of people together through organised social events, spurning a melting pot of National and International friendships, partnerships, marriages and babies, (including a Canadian/Russian marriage!), Amelia has also found the time to have her own family and has a cheeky, but wonderful English/French bilingual son, Benjamin, 7 with the lovely, but cheeky Denis!
Fast forward to 2010, and Amelia and her Team, Angelica, Denis, David have launched My Connect Club which is an exciting social events site, dedicated to sourcing and organising great events for professionals, living, working, and relocating to London and the UK. As is standard on the internet, the Club is free to join and try out with some free pub socials every month, free profile adding and searching, some free messaging and posting on the forums. To gain maximum benefit from MCC and attend our exclusively organised events at top venues, and enjoy unlimited messaging and connecting as well as discounts on paid events, members have the option to upgrade to Gold Membership for £8.50 a month. (Which can be less than the price of a cocktail, nowadays!).
